Program Profile: Sociedad Latina Offers Youth Led STEAM Experiences that Build Creativity and Cultural Pride
Integrating academic support and hands-on art and design learning experiences, the Sociedad Latina STEAM Team provides Latino middle school students with opportunities to develop math and science skills while engaging in self-expression and celebrating their shared cultural heritage.
“Our mission is to build the next generation of Latino leaders that are confident, competent, and proud of their cultural heritage,” says Jenna Nackel, STEAM Manager at Sociedad Latina. “There are not a lot of Latinos in STEM, and this can help us develop that piece of their identity as potentially people who want to study STEM in high school or college.”

YouthServices Tips: Tracking Attendance
The following best practices were shared during our YouthServices Webinar: Tracking Enrollment and Attendance
- Try using the “All Present” option found at the top of the attendance bubble sheet in YouthServices. It will mark every student present so that you will only need to click on the absent students. This could mean clicking five bubbles instead of 50!
- Record attendance regularly! It takes 2 minutes daily to input attendance in YouthServices and no more than 30 minutes if you’re inputting weekly attendance.
- Do you have 100’s of participants in the database but only need to enroll 20? Check out the Participant Status Update Tool! Watch a Tutorial Here
