Adagio Music Academy – Piano After School program

School-based Services Available
Program Details

There is a sequential and natural order of processing data; whether it be an english comprehension assignment, a math problem or a musical note. Teaching a child this blueprint for learning (using the senses) is paramount in their academic and social development as well as their success. At Adagio Music Academy we emphasize that playing is the last thing we do when reading music: we look at the music, process the note then play. This is equally true in test taking: having the ability to focus, visualize, process then apply. In addition to the above, what a joy to produce, to create and interpret this gift that was given to us: Music

Afrimerican Academy – Afrimerican TV

School-based Services Available
Program Details

Our program’s special approach is twofold: Firstly, this program builds upon the foundation established during our summer program. The majority of our students are already well-oriented to our mission and methods. Over the course of seven weeks during the summer, they have delved into narratives surrounding cultural diversity, equity, and inclusion. They have also honed their skills in creating compelling Google Slides presentations. This prior experience equips them with a solid understanding and readiness to engage in deeper learning. Secondly, Afrimerican TV’s project-based learning approach offers a comprehensive and highly practical learning experience. Through this platform, students not only acquire knowledge but actively apply what they’ve learned. This hands-on approach allows them to witness firsthand the direct impact of their education on real-world projects, enhancing the engagement and impact of their learning journey. This approach is a powerful catalyst for developing skills, fostering creativity, and cultivating a profound understanding of the subject matter. Within the realm of Afrimerican TV’s social media engagement, this approach takes shape through student involvement in the active management and analysis of social media content. By applying technical data analysis techniques to evaluate social media metrics, students gain valuable insights into audience engagement and content effectiveness. This hands-on participation in managing a real-world social media presence not only elevates their executive skills but also provides a tangible application of their learning. It underscores the comprehensive and practical nature of Afrimerican TV’s educational approach, strengthening the connection between theory and real-world practice.

After-school matters.

The after-school hours represent a tremendous opportunity for students to extend on what they learn in school, build critical skills, and develop socially and emotionally.

Students who participate in evidence-based after-school programs show improved school attendance, greater engagement in learning, and improved graduation rates (Huang et. al, 2008).

Students from low-income families who are most at-risk experience the greatest gains (Vandell et al, 2007).
