Courageous Sailing‘s Summer Learning program is off to a beautiful start! Check out these photos to see what the students have been up to during their first week. Many thanks to Kate from Courageous Sailing for sharing her pics!
Courageous Sailing and the USS Constitution Museum are engaging 32 students from Harvard-Kent Elementary and 8 students from Warren-Prescott Elementary in hands-on learning, both in the classroom and at sea. Each site in the Summer Learning Project focuses on one or two “Essential Questions” to drive their instruction, encourage students to embrace their curiosity, and begin to inquire more deeply about the world around them.
Courageous Sailing’s Essential Questions are:
- How do marine animals adapt to their environment?
- How do humans impact marine life?
The USS Constitution Museum asks:
- How did the unique design of USS Constitution lead her to success in the War of 1812?
Marine life education instructors from Save the Harbor / Save the Bay teach the students about sea creatures.
