Our Partnership Director, Louise Harland, was featured in today’s UK Trade & Investment series, “100 Days, 100 Brits.”
Louise, originally from London, is a relative newcomer to the Boston area. Yet in just three years, this Oxford grad married, started a family and started a new career in the Bay State.
Louise is Partnership Director at Boston After School & Beyond, a public-private partnership that promotes the use of out of school time (OST) to give Boston’s students access to experiences that build the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. The organization focuses on working towards Mayor Menino’s goal of ensuring every child in Boston has the opportunity to develop to his or her full potential.
Louise oversees initiatives that explore innovative ways that schools can partner with external organizations to enrich students’ learning experiences. Examples include the Boston Summer Learning Project, which focuses on tackling the issue of summer learning loss for Boston students, and project to measure the impact of partnerships on student success in Turnaround Schools.
Louise is married to James Harland, VP of Operations and Finance at Silverail Technologies, and spends her free time playing with her one-year-old daughter and trying to finish her first novel.
