All students who participate in the 2022 Summer Learning Institute will enroll in a dual-enrollment class provided Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology (BFIT), gain workplace skills at Freedom House working on social justice issues and Freedom House specific projects, and participate in positive youth development workshops facilitated by Freedom House staff and community partners. Our partnership with the PIC allows us to leverage our relationships with BINCA and Snowden International high schools to fund job placements. In addition, we partner with job placement partners Boston Private Industry Council (PIC), John Hancock MLK Scholars, the Department of Youth Engagement and Employment (DYEE), and ABCD to support additional students during the summer.
Our model is unique because of the holistic approach we take to addressing students? needs. Students have the opportunity to take classes that will earn them college credit and to participate in workshops that will help them develop college-going and leadership skills.
